There are no messages in the Event Viewer. This is such a dissapointment. I have Windows 7 systems which connected immediately after asking for the security key. That chipset might have be considered obsolete at some point, and there was no need to add WPA2 functionality.

Updating drivers worked here! I can think of the following possibilities: Hope maybe this helps others out there to solve their problems as well, I have noticed numerous posts elsewhere where the same error is reported.

WPA2 in Windows XP SP3
I was not able access wireless networks with WPA2 security with an older Sony laptop. Does anyone who has Windows XP Home installed xr5004g this same problem? Waiting a few minutes and re-starting it results in not receiving this message.
